"Education is not something which the teacher does.  It is a natural process which develops spontaneously.”

~ Maria Montessori

OUR PROGRAM

SCHOOL SCHEDULE AND DAILY PROGRAM
Our core schedule is a three-hour morning class from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon) and an afternoon class from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. These classes consist of a balance of individual and group time, which is the heart of Montessori education; group time is for collective lessons-grace and courtesy-stories, music, sharing, brief lessons and outdoor play.

For our older children, mostly of kindergarten age, a key part of our program is the Full-day schedule , which is from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This longer day provides a balance of the mixed-age class in the mornings, with more advanced lessons, individual attention, social experiences, with their smaller group of peers in the afternoons.

The children who stay in the afternoon have a nap period in a separate room after 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, and then they will join the remainder of the afternoon group.

We provide after school care for children in the afternoon program and full-day program .  The after school program runs from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.

The Purposes and Objectives of the Villa Montessori Program

The Villa Montessori Program is designed to enhance and guide each child’s spontaneous and natural desire to learn during the most sensitive years of life.

The staff uses specially designed Montessori materials to meet individual learning needs and to provide an appropriate, exciting learning experience in a positive, nurturing environment.

The Montessori Method

The Montessori Method is designed to take full advantage of the “absorbent mind” of the young child.  It is a unique cycle of learning developed for the children’s sensitive years between 2.5 and 6, when they can absorb information from an enriched environment.

The primary emphasis is upon the total development of the child as a child.  It encourages children to learn through their own initiative and at their own rate in a carefully prepared environment, which guarantees exposure to materials and experiences that will enhance the development of their intellectual, physical, social, and psychological abilities.  By pursuing their individual interests in a Montessori classroom, they gain an early enthusiasm for learning, which is the key to their becoming truly educated persons.
